Sometimes is not just about hiking, it’s also about the places you see, the people you meet, the wildlife you discover. The active tours we suggest are a nice and balanced mix between nature, culture and local life.
Wandering through the fields, pastures, forests and mountains while admiring the countryside, interacting with local people and taking pictures of the diversified flora and fauna. It is the best way to leave the traffic behind, to go far from the noisy towns and just enjoy the beauty of the landscape. Sometimes, we might not even have phone signal or Internet – what a release!
This is a special tour as we’ll visit a very small village, close to Sibiu, hidden in a valley, at the bottom of the mountains. It has just a few families, all of them with children living a quite modest life. We’ll meet the children taking care of the goats and sheep, we’ll talk to them and we’ll even give them a treat. Meeting and learning about them is such a simple and pure joy.
Ah, and I alsmost forgot…. In summer time we can enjoy the local fruit: sour cherries, plums and apples.
The tour includes:
- A hiking tour in the countryside (about 3 hours)
- Visit in several traditional villages around Sibiu
- Visit at Cisnadioara fortress
The tour doesn’t include lunch but, of course, snacks are always welcome. We can have a nice break at the shade of the forest and enjoy a delicious snack while admiring the view!
Trainei village is close to Sibiu near another bigger village, Rasinari. People say that, the first houses in Trainei were built about two centuries ago by the felons from Rasinari. We don’t know whether this is true or not but all I know is that the people living there are so nice and welcome and the children… Well, they are a delight to talk to.
We’ll have a relaxing walk of about 3 hours, we’ll have a snack stop and, probably, take lots of pictures.
As this is a tailor-made tour, we have several options, it all depends on our time and your preferences. Thus, we could visit:
- Cisnadioara fortress
- or walk up on the hill above the village Orlat (a very interesting place where terrifying battles took place during WWI)
- Fantanele village – one of the ”premium/ best preserved” traditional romanian villages
- Sibiel, another local village with an amazing exhibition of naive painting
Our tour is focused on our visit at Trainei, it’s all about local life and hiking. We’ll take our time to enjoy the trip and have fun, there’s no need to rush.
The second part of the day is dedicated to other experiences – either the visit of a fortress, or a walk up on the hill, or a visit in a traditional villages or… all of them:)
Depending on your time and interest we can adapt ourselves. This tour is fun in any season, the view is always astonishing.
