Back to nature. Farm to table experience
Not far from Sibiu, at the bottom of the Carpathians, lays a picturesque area with idyllic villages, valleys, pastures, forests and fresh springs. A trip in this area is like a wonderful dream that stays in your heart forever. Beyond the enchanting landscape, you’ll be fascinated by the wonderful habitants and their stories.
The inhabitants lived hard times, but they were wise and hardworking. Breeding animals (especially large flock of sheep) has always been their main occupation. They were also skilled craftsmen… Even today, some of them keep preserving these customs and are always content to share their secrets.
We invite you to a short and relaxing trekking tour in this area with a visit at a traditional sheepfold. We’ll meet the shepherd himself and listen to his amazing life stories and adventures up in the mountains.
When talking about food in this area, there’s a lot to say! We’ll try some local products based on meat and cheese, all prepared and cooked at the sheepfold. That will be a delicious experience!
In this area every day means a new experience, a new reason of joy and peacefulness, a perfect occasion to recharge your batteries far from the noisy world!
The tour includes:
- A visit at the fortress from Cisnadioara (one of the oldest in Transylvania)
- A trekking tour (easy or medium level)
- Lunch at the shepherd’s cabin
The tour doesn’t include, but at request we can add:
- A carriage ride through the village
- Location 1 Cisnadioara fortress
Lunch at the Sheepfold
Enjoy a few hours in the countryside, in the mountains, while having a delicious local lunch in an orchard. We’ll meet our guest, the shepherd and his family and we’ll learn more about life in the mountains.
Our main challenge is to offer you only local products: different types of cheese made by the shepherd, local meat products, fresh vegetables and, of course, the famous polenta cheese balls – a sort of traditional Romanian cheeseburger:)
This visit is an amazing experience of senses: you can smell the fresh grass and hay, the wild flowers scent, you can enjoy the picturesque view of the village and of the mountains, you can hear the noise of the locals at work and you can taste a lovely meal in a nice company. That will be an exquisite experience!
This is a tailor-made tour so we can customize it according to your wish. We can also organize a trekking tour (2-4 hours, easy/ moderate) or a pleasant walk in the village. It is important to have comfortable shoes and outfit.
Yes, this could be a private tour (especially for families, small friends groups) but also for larger groups; we have plenty of room and lots of food for everybody!
If you are a vegetarian or have food restrictions, please let us know in advance and we’ll adapt the menu for you.
