The villages around Sibiu are famous for their winter traditions so well preserved during the centuries. Most of them are connected to Christmas and New Year Eve, celebrating the birth of Christ and giving thanks to God for the year that is going to end. They also celebrate the traditional costume, the wonderful Romanian folk music, a great patrimony we inherited from our ancestors.
The Saxon community also celebrates the end of the year and the begining of a new one through a costume parade and carnival whose origins go way back in history. December and January are perfect months to visit these places and discover such an amazing culture!
